Losar – The Great Yamantaka Ritual
Yamantaka Ritual Vajra Master Loppon Sonam Gyatso
From 4 to 10 February, the Great Sixty Torma Offering Ritual of Yamantaka (Yamantaka Ritual) was performed at Ngor Monastery. The Yamantaka Ritual is traditionally performed prior to the celebration of Tibetan Losar. This year, Losar falls on 12 February, which in the Tibetan calendar is the first day of the first month in the year of 2148, the Year of the Iron Ox.
Loppon Sonam Gyatso was the Yamantaka Ritual Vajra Master and he led all senior monks during the Yamantaka Ritual.
The Yamantaka Ritual is performed every year at Ngor monastery for the benefit of all sentient beings and is regarded as highly effective in averting obstacles and establishing favourable conditions for the practice of Dharma.
On 10 February, the Yamantaka Ritual was concluded by the offering tormas and a fire puja.
This ritual has been performed strictly in accordance with the social distancing regulations and safety precautions as set down by the Government and Health Ministry.
We sincerely pray that Ngor Monastery’s Yamantaka Ritual will remove all obstacles and result in positive circumstances for you, your Sangha and dear ones for this incoming new year.
