Projects

Luding Foundation's projects directly support the study, practice and preservation of the authentic Ngor lineage of the Sakya Tibetan Buddhist Tradition.

OVERVIEW

Luding Foundation supports Ngor Ewam Choden Monastery (Ngor Monastery) and the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana (Sakya Institute) which are traditional monastic institutions dedicated to upholding the Sakya Ngor lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The projects support monks from the beginning of monastic training up to and including studies of advanced Vajrayana teachings and practices. The aim of the projects is ensure that the authentic education and practice of the Buddhadharma remains intact and available to monastics and lay-Buddhists.

Our projects are divided into three focus areas:

Ngor is a subsect of the Sakya Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The first Ngor monastery was founded in 1429 by the great master Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo (1382-1450).

His Eminence Luding Khen Chen Rinpoche established Ngor Monastery in Manduwala, Uttarakhandt India in 1978.

The Sakya Institute of Vajrayana is located in Manduwala, Uttarakhand, Northern India.

Luding Khenpo initiated the construction of the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana in 2004 as a precious gift for the learning of higher Vajrayana Buddhism under the guidance and encouragement of the Late and Most Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche.

Ngor Monastery is home to approximately 350 monks of which around 100 are below the age of 10. We call these monks Little Bodhi Seeds.

Little Bodhi Seeds are educated in the traditional Tibetan Buddhist monastic system and are provided with food, shelter and healthcare at Ngor Monastery.
