SIV Khenpo Enthronement Ceremony, 30 October 2020

On 30 October 2020, His Eminence Khen Rinpoche Kalzang Gonpo was enthroned as the principle Khenpo (abbot) of the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana (SIV). The date of the enthronement ceremony was especially auspicious because it coincided with the birthday of His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche as well as the anniversaries of the first Three Sakya Trizins and the following Great Sakya Masters:

• Khon Konchok Gyalpo, the founder of Sakya Monastery in Tibet and the holy father of the first of the five Sakya Founding Masters - Sachen Kunga Nyingpo;
• Bari Lotsawa Rinchen Drak, the great translator and the second throneholder of Sakya Monastery;
• Khon Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, the founder of The Sakya Lineage and compiler of The Precious Lamdre; and
• Gonpo Sonam Chokden and Kunga Tenpei Lodro, who were both past great Sakya Lineage Masters.
